DR CHIDI AMUTA

CHAIRMAN

Chidi Amuta graduated with first-class honors from the University of Ife (Obafemi Awolowo University) where he subsequently obtained a Ph.D. He taught at the same university before moving to the University of Port Harcourt.

He has subsequently taught communications and literature at universities in Nigeria and the United States and Europe. He has been a visiting fellow at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Boston and Cambridge University. He has authored or co-authored over 12 books in fields as diverse as literature, history, political science, biography, media, and communications.

In addition, he has published over 100 scholarly papers in journals all over the world. He has been engaged in the Nigerian media for over 35 years, managing newspapers and writing columns and editorials for newspapers and magazines around the world including Time, New York Times, The Guardian, Daily Times, The Nation, The Concord, Post Express, and Thisday in addition to contributing articles on Nigeria to The New York Times and Wall Street Journal for whom he has served as a business associate for Nigeria. etc.

One of Nigeria’s most respected public intellectuals and media commentators, Dr. Amuta has combined an active media career with engagement in serious scholarship. His books on theories of literature, culture, and communications remain required reading in universities all over the world. He combines these with involvement in the business.

His interests range from media relations and public policy; to consulting and corporate intelligence advisory services. Dr. Amuta is currently the Chief Executive of Wilson &Weizmann Associates Ltd, a media and public affairs consultancy based in Lagos with active affiliations in Europe, the US, and the UAE. He is also a member of the Thisday Editorial Board and Chairman of Port Harcourt Literary Society in collaboration with Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria.
